About Sketches of Thought

Sketches of Thought is an intellectual and creative platform curated by Prof. Anjan Bhuyan, bringing together rigorous research, reflective writing, and engaged practice. It functions as a living archive of ideas—where scholarship meets storytelling, and analysis is deepened by imagination.

More than a repository, Sketches of Thought is a collaborative space that invites scholars, practitioners, institutions, and communities into dialogue and co-creation. The platform supports research collaboration and consultancy services aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods, community-based initiatives, and socially grounded development practice.

These scholarly engagements are complemented by a rich body of creative writing—poetry, fiction, and essays—that explore memory, time, place, loss, and resilience beyond the confines of academic language.

Here, ideas move between analysis and imagination, thought and shared action.

Thought in fragments, work in common, futures shaped with care.

Prof. Anjan Bhuyan

Prof. Anjan Bhuyan is an academician whose work moves thoughtfully between scholarship and imagination. Rooted in rigorous research, his academic engagement is marked by a deep concern for social realities, moral inquiry, and the lived textures of everyday life—particularly in rural and marginal contexts. His teaching and research reflect a commitment to bridging theory with practice, and ideas with responsibility. His academic career spans over 28 years of teaching, research, and scholarly leadership focused on Managerial Decision Dilemma, Tourism-led Growth, Entrepreneurial Behaviour, Small Businesses in Global Setting, Rural Economy in Transition, and Economics as Moral Science

Beyond the bounds of academia, Prof. Bhuyan speaks with a singular creative voice. His literary work engages memory, time, loss, and endurance, drawing strength from landscapes, histories, and the quiet textures of lived experience. Rather than offering easy consolation, his writing insists on language as an act of witness—attentive, ethical, and reflective. Marked by clarity and restraint, his work attains emotional depth through ordinary images, which open onto larger moral and existential questions.

Together, these twin pursuits—academia and creative writing—form a coherent intellectual and artistic journey, where critical inquiry and lyrical expression inform and enrich one another.
